KYRGYZSTAN TRAVEL REFLECTIONS WITH MOUNTAIN ADVENTURE TRAVELS

I am deeply grateful to  Pritam Singh, the CEO of Mountain Adventure Travels, for giving me the opportunity to join this unforgettable trip alongside two wonderful companions from Singapore, Mr. George and Mr. Joseph. This journey was truly a once-in-a-lifetime experience for me.

Kyrgyzstan Highlights

Traveling with Mountain Adventure Travels was nothing short of extraordinary. The journey was filled with stunning natural landscapes, rich cultural experiences, and warm hospitality.

One of the most breathtaking stops was Baytur Resort and Spa, beautifully nestled near Issyk-Kul Lake. The scenery was absolutely incredible—crystal-clear waters reflecting the snow-capped mountains created a view that left me in awe.

Karakol Highlights:

  1. Dungan Mosque: A unique mosque built entirely of wood without a single nail, reflecting Chinese architecture.
  2. Holy Trinity Orthodox Cathedral: A striking Russian Orthodox church constructed from wood.
  3. Ak-Suu Hot Springs: This was one of the most memorable experiences. Located just 30 minutes from Karakol. Surrounded by alpine scenery, it felt like a natural spa in the heart of the mountains.
  4. Jeti-Ögüz Gorge (Seven Bulls): Famous for its dramatic red rock formations and lush valleys—truly a photographer’s dream.
  5. Barskoon Gorge: A scenic valley where pristine nature meets folklore and waterfalls. This area left a lasting impression with its rugged beauty and serene atmosphere.

Accommodation

Pritam Singh made sure we stayed in some of the best accommodations in the region. Hotels like Olimp, Baytur Resrot and Spa, Karagat, Tong Marina, and Beltam Eco Resort and Yurts near Issyk-Kul Lake were all 3–4-star properties offering excellent service, comfortable rooms, and hearty breakfasts.

In Almaty, our stay at the newly built Renion Hotel (a 4-star hotel just six months old) was especially impressive, featuring modern amenities and exceptional service. The hotel staff throughout our journey were kind, professional, and always ready to help.

Food Experience

The food throughout our journey in Kyrgyzstan and Almaty was outstanding.  Pritam Singh ensured that we always had the best in both quality and quantity—never compromising on our meals.

We enjoyed traditional Kyrgyz dishes such as:

  • Beshbarmak – the national dish made of boiled meat served over noodles.
  • Lagman – hand-pulled noodles with stir-fried meat and vegetables.
  • Kuurdak – a savory dish made of fried meat, potatoes, and onions.
  • Manti – steamed dumplings filled with ground meat.
  • And of course, various types of Pilaf prepared in Kyrgyz, Uzbek, and Kazakh styles.

Great Company

Our travel companions made the trip even more enjoyable.

  • Mr. George, a professional teacher, was kind, disciplined, and caring in his own thoughtful way.
  • Mr. Joseph, a highly knowledgeable individual, enriched our journey with insightful information and cultural context throughout the trip.

Transportation

Mountain Adventure Travels provided us with a Toyota Land Cruiser, which made the entire mountainous journey extremely comfortable and safe. From the rugged terrains of Kyrgyzstan to the lakeside roads, the vehicle ensured a smooth and pleasant ride at every stage.

Almaty, Kazakhstan

Our journey from Bishkek to Almaty by Toyota Land Cruiser was both scenic and relaxing. We passed through wide open landscapes filled with rolling hills, small villages, and the distant backdrop of the Tien Shan Mountains. The Kordai border crossing was smooth, and the drive became a highlight in itself—more than just a transfer between cities, it was a memorable part of our Central Asian adventure.

Almaty Highlights:

  • Panfilov Park & Zenkov Cathedral: A peaceful green park named after WWII heroes, featuring the beautiful Zenkov Cathedral—one of the tallest wooden buildings in the world, built without nails.
  • Central Mosque of Almaty: One of the largest mosques in Kazakhstan, known for its beautiful architecture and welcoming atmosphere.
  • Abay Opera House & Cultural Scene: A hub of classical music, dance, and vibrant cultural life in the city.

Almaty’s charm lies in its perfect blend of modern culture, historic elegance, and proximity to nature. Whether exploring city streets, relaxing in mountain resorts, or venturing to alpine lakes, Almaty truly captures the heart with its peaceful atmosphere and stunning beauty.

The most important and memorable highlight of the trip was the exceptional care provided by Pritam Singh to the entire team. His attention to detail and commitment to our comfort were truly unforgettable. He personally ensured that each one of us was well taken care of—whether it was our room arrangements, meals, travel logistics, or overall well-being.

I am confident that anyone who signs up with Mountain Adventure Travels will not be disappointed. Instead, you will return with a lifetime of unforgettable experiences—and the warm memories of Pritam Singh’s personal care will stay with you long after the journey ends.
