My Unforgettable Journey with Mountain Adventure Travels in Pakistan
By Aminah Bee, Retired Singaporean & Animal Rights Activist
From August 15th to 22nd, 2025, I embarked on an unforgettable adventure through northern Pakistan with Mountain Adventure Travels. What I expected to be a scenic getaway turned into one of the most transformative journeys of my life.
Pakistan welcomed me with open arms—majestic mountains, breathtaking landscapes, and, most heartwarming of all, the kindness of its people. Even the security guards, usually stoic in most countries, smiled, laughed, and made me feel genuinely at ease. As someone from Singapore, this openness was a refreshing and beautiful contrast.
A Journey Crafted with Care
What truly made this trip extraordinary was the care and professionalism of Pritam Singh and the entire Mountain Adventure Travels team. From the moment we landed, every detail was seamlessly managed. Whether it was transportation, accommodations, or local insights, they ensured that we traveled safely, comfortably, and with a deep sense of discovery.
Exploring Shigar Valley & Environmental Hope
One of the standout moments of the trip was visiting Shigar Valley—the gateway to the mighty Karakoram Range, home to the legendary K2, the world’s second-highest peak. Walking through the historic Shigar Fort felt like stepping back in time. But beyond the beauty and history, what moved me most was learning about the region’s environmental preservation efforts.
It was heartening to hear that the Gilgit-Baltistan government has banned deforestation, and even more inspiring to see Mountain Adventure Travels leading tree-planting initiatives. As a nature and animal lover, these actions resonated deeply with me. It gave me hope to see tourism being used as a force for positive change.
Skardu: A Landscape of Dreams
Skardu utterly enchanted me. From the surreal Katpana Cold Desert, where golden sands stretch beneath snow-capped peaks, to the shimmering waters of Shangrila Lake and Upper Kachura Lake, every corner seemed like a postcard come to life.
Yet amidst the beauty, my heart ached for the stray animals. With no shelters or sterilization programs, many suffer silently. As an advocate for animal welfare, I sincerely hope this issue gains attention and inspires change in the near future.
Islamabad: A Cultural & Modern Delight
Our final stop was Islamabad, Pakistan’s clean and modern capital. I was pleasantly surprised by the shopping experience at Giga Mall, which beautifully blends international brands with traditional crafts. A visit to the Lok Virsa Museum was another highlight—its vibrant exhibits of folk art, music, and heritage brought Pakistan’s rich cultural tapestry to life.
These experiences reminded me that a journey isn’t just about nature or scenery—it’s also about connecting with people, culture, and history.
A Solo Woman Traveler’s Story
Traveling as the only woman in a group of men, I was affectionately nicknamed “a rose among thorns.” Far from feeling awkward, I was treated with the utmost respect and kindness. My fellow travelers became like brothers—helping me on steep paths, holding my hand when the terrain was tricky, and even carrying my bag so I could enjoy the hike with ease. Their warmth turned strangers into lifelong friends.
To all my female friends who worry when I travel alone: let this story reassure you. Solo travel as a woman is not only possible—it’s empowering. With a trustworthy team like Mountain Adventure Travels, I felt safe, supported, and free to fully embrace the experience.
A Journey That Touched My Soul
Guided by Pritam Singh and Zakiel Yousaf, this journey was so much more than sightseeing. It was a celebration of nature, friendship, culture, and inner strength. I laughed. I learned. I connected—with people, with history, and with myself.
Pakistan is a land of hidden wonders, and with Mountain Adventure Travels, every moment became a story I’ll cherish forever.
If you’ve ever dreamed of discovering raw beauty, forging meaningful connections, and traveling with purpose—don’t wait. Take that leap. Like I did.
